The band
consists of Aaron Oliveira on drums, Eric Frase on bass guitar and singer /
songwriter, Dylan Cowles, on guitar.
Aaron’s dad started teaching him drums when he was an infant, “I practiced 4
hours a day, and by 8 years old I was playing in my father’s classic rock
band.” His influences range from Mitch Mitchel, Keith Moon and John Bonham to
Lars Ulrich and Buddy Rich. His dynamic style coupled with flawless timing is
visually impressive while “staying on the one”.
Eric plays his 5 string bass with finger, slap, and pick stylings. He moves
fluidly from rock to reggae into funk and hip-hop. Influences include, Aston
Barret along with
Jaco Pastorius, Les Claypool, Mike Gorden and Victor Wooten. He adds copious
amounts of flavor, warmth and emotion to the Kosmik Egg sound and feel.
Jim grew up listening to the sounds of jazz from the old school greats like
Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, and Clifford Brown. "My greatest influence is
still St. Petersburg's own 76 year old Jazz veteran, Buster Cooper." who Jim
has been sitting in with since age 15. From jazz-funk, to World beat or just
plain-ol' Rockin' out, Jim brings a tasty trumpet sound to the Kosmik Egg mix.
Dylan’s
amusing yet thought-provoking lyrics resonate with listeners from many social
backgrounds. His hooky guitar riffs and melodies will leave you humming tunes
like “One Drop” long after the cd stops. “I use little bits and pieces from
every musician I respect and rework them in different combinations.” His
influences include: Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Sublime and Green Day.
Furthermore his songs have been featured in two independent films (the award
winning Vice Verses and The Land Lord) as well as on HGTV.
